Int his bitter cold, with windsheilds at 25 below or more, my thoughts turn to all kinds flowers and seeds. I start thinking about all the things I want to plant, and what goes into my container gardens. Over a peasant salad that is mostly cut up tomatoes and cucumbers, I started to think about what is fruit, what is vegetable. Peppers sprang to mine. I thought they were more fruit because of the seeds they contained, and because many grew on vines, or seemed to do so. I also was watching Cook's Country, and watched the chef slice jalopenos and remove the seeds. Well, here is a link to an article that explains why peppers are both fruits and vegetables, along with other plants considered botanical fruits, in part because they bloom from a flower:

Enjoy! Soon, the sun will warm us, and it will be time to spring clean, and prepare your yards and gardens.
Happy planting! If you have a local food coop, look for seed savers packets of various heirloom and other vegetables and flowers.
